Corrie Covell is an intuitive artist and musician based in California. Her creative practice draws inspiration from nature’s rhythms, emotional resonance, and a lifelong devotion to artistic exploration. Through color, form, and sound, Corrie seeks to evoke beauty that transcends the ordinary — connecting viewers and listeners through shared emotional experiences.
Studio Practice
Corrie currently works out of her La Jolla studio, exploring the interplay between color and gesture, with emotional sensitivity.
Guided by an intuitive process, pieces unfold and evolve with a free flow that captures an ineffable underlying energy that pulses through all of life. Continually experimenting with new techniques keeps the process fresh and iterative.
Corrie also composes music inspired by the forces that carry us all along this journey, inviting reconnection and a return to heart-centered interbeing.
Artist Statement
What happens when life crashes over you like a giant wave? You let it.
When I paint, I open a direct channel between my spirit and the brush, inviting emotions below the level of awareness to take form in expressive color. I often layer soft watery blends in ways that remind me of the depths of the ocean--a physical and metaphorical place I return to for solace--connecting on a somatic level with earliest conscious memory of the womb. In surrendering to this process, forms emerge that reflect a sense of safety in the midst of uncertainty.
Unencumbered by the material ego that dominates the adult mind, I invite my audience to reconnect with their unjaded and free inner child. My art reflects the human experience as one of exploration, discovery, and evolution. In a world often ruled by profitability and practicality, I uphold wonder and play as our inherent birthright.
